Virtue starts and ends with us. We don't need other people in order to be virtuous. In the fight good vs evil, virtue vs sin, we always want to be on the virtuous side. We never want to sin. Often, its the behavior that society or certain ideologies deem as sin that seem to make a person a sinner. But if the person does not deep this behavior evil himself, he does not sin.
Is it good and virtuous to be selfless and to give to the poor? Is it evil and sinful to be egoistical? No. This is propaganda of christianity and communism.
Ideologies come with a certain set of moralities and virtues, ready to be used.
